AMDG. Longtime Kolbe Academy online instructor and chair of the English and Literature Department Kim Crawford shines a light on the philosophy of Kolbe’s literature curriculum, which employs four attitudes and a four-fold test to construct a lens through which to evaluate any piece of literature, from the timeless classic to the latest beach read. Kim and Bonnie also discuss the true meaning of critical thinking, ways to both cultivate a love of reading and work through resistance or reluctance, the importance of enlisting help along the way for challenges such as dyslexia and anxiety, and the consequences of cancel culture as seen in recent removals of time-tested texts from the canon.
